Media Monitors held a panel discussion on the 31st of August 2016, which tackled the representation and portrayal of people living with disabilities in the Zimbabwean media. The main objective of the discussion was to change the perspective the media had on people living with disabilities. Media Monitors noticed with great concern that stories that make news are sympathetic towards the disabled. The influence that the media holds over society has not always been used to society’s benefit, particularly in relation to disability issues, where the media has continued to add to the discrimination of disabled people.
